Your hourly slot is reserved before you arrive, so you walk straight to the site gate instead of queuing at the Ancient Agora ticket office. On busy days that queue can build as tour groups and cruise excursions sweep through the classical sites in one wave, so coming with your ticket already in hand saves the wait in the sun.

You choose the date and an hourly time slot, and your ticket is valid for a single entry during that hour on that day. Just arrive within your slot window and show your mobile ticket at the gate; last entry is about 30 minutes before closing.

Full admission to the Ancient Agora archaeological site: the Temple of Hephaestus, the best-preserved ancient Greek temple; the reconstructed Stoa of Attalos, which houses the Museum of the Ancient Agora and its finds; and the excavated civic buildings across the square, including the Bouleuterion (council house), the round Tholos and the law courts. The museum in the Stoa is included in your entry.

No — they are two separate sites with separate tickets. The Ancient Agora is the large classical marketplace below the northwest slope of the Acropolis, with the Temple of Hephaestus and the Stoa of Attalos. The Roman Agora is a smaller, later square a few minutes' walk to the east, best known for the Tower of the Winds. Our ticket covers the Ancient Agora only.

No. The Acropolis on the hill above is a separate site with its own ticket. Many visitors do both, since they are within a short walk of each other, but this ticket covers entry to the Ancient Agora archaeological site only.

The Ancient Agora is in the heart of old Athens, below the north slope of the Acropolis. The nearest metro stations are Monastiraki (Lines 1 and 3) and Thissio (Line 1), both a few minutes' walk away. From most central hotels and from Monastiraki square it is an easy stroll through Plaka.

Book the first hourly slot after opening, or one of the last slots before closing. The Agora is largely open ground with limited shade, so the middle of the day in summer is both the hottest and the busiest. An early or late slot gives you cooler air, softer light on the Temple of Hephaestus and a calmer walk among the ruins.

Most visitors spend about 1 to 1.5 hours at the Ancient Agora, walking the square, climbing to the Temple of Hephaestus and exploring the Museum of the Ancient Agora in the Stoa of Attalos. Allow a little longer if you want to read the site's history in detail, or pair it with the Acropolis for a fuller half-day.

You walk the open marketplace where classical Athens governed itself and traded. The highlights are the Temple of Hephaestus, standing almost intact on its rise; the long reconstructed Stoa of Attalos with the site museum; the excavated council house, Tholos and law courts; and the early Christian Church of the Holy Apostles. Throughout, the Acropolis rises dramatically above.

No. The standard entry ticket is not personalised and needs no passport or name — just show your mobile ticket at the gate. (Reduced and free-entry categories set by the operator may require ID at the gate; our ticket is standard full admission.)

Partly. The site is on gently sloping ground with gravel and stone paths, some uneven, and there is a climb between the lower square and the Temple of Hephaestus. The reconstructed Stoa of Attalos and its museum are more level and largely accessible on the ground floor. Ask staff at the entrance for the easiest routes.

Bring only a small day bag, water, a hat and sun protection. Large bags and backpacks, food and drink other than water, tripods and drones are generally not permitted, and climbing on the monuments is prohibited. There is no large-luggage storage on site.

Yes — the site is open daily, year-round. Only the daily hours change with the season: longer in summer (roughly 08:00–20:00) and shorter in winter, with timed entry by the hour and last entry about 30 minutes before closing. Hours can change on public holidays, so confirm on the day.

Changes are allowed up to 2 hours before your visit, with a maximum of 2 changes per ticket, provided your preferred new slot is still open. If your plans shift, contact our team and we'll help where the operator's rules allow. See our terms for the full policy.
